It was a Global Warmed Cold Wave
The boosters, of, man causes `the big we are doomed it’, blame droughts, usual summer weather, etc. on man makes climate dance. The earth quake and tsunami, as Louis points out below, were terrific flies in the ointment. So was, Monday, where I was, it was frigging freezing. By 10 a.m., it felt like hail storm weather. I went fishing, standing up to the guts in water, and all waist down was warmer than all above the w. Then, it hailed, twice. It’s not nice standing out in the water up to the guts being stoned, the skin being flayed off the living flesh - there’s nowhere to run when standing in water a couple of feet higher than the nuts because, you can’t frigging run for it.
Was it worth it? Oh, well, a nice brace of fish, a couple snapped tippet, some others released. I’m sure I had fun, allowing for a bit of recovery from hypothermia, stitching the skin back together, in front of a fire that evening, downing, scotch, port and cigars - purely medicinal of course, the gizzards and the grey blanc mange that slops around inside the old cranium were in need of re-activation.
