Oz is sliding into recession

The burden of govt which has been increased exponentially over the last four years is finally breaking that poor dumb mule the real taxpayer and, in particular, enterprises. This clear enough in Victoria. Official unemployment figures indicated a trend up where it counts, in business. Estimates last year indicated investment in Victoria will not slow during the current financial year and the next, 05-06, but be reduced. Small business are already beginning to shut their doors. Ask them why, and the answer received is direct enough, rapacious state and local councils are sinking them.

Land Taxes and and Council property rates have been increased by large increases during the last three years, to pay for their ever increasing socialisto fantasies. Conbsider, what does it mean for a small business property owner to pay now $14,000 per annum on land tax alone, before council rates. In suburbia, council rates are $5,000 plus per annum. Aint that cute, on two property taxes alone, before you can count profit, you have to cover a minimum of $20,000 per annum, before all other taxes each tier of govt. collect are also paid out. All taxes are factor costs of production, and they must be met at the point of a metaphorical police state gun. Indeed, to set up a business, before taking one cent in revenue, each tier of govt is already taking loot and that is apt, they loot anyone who just even starts up. Regulations, as well as being totalitarian diktat, are also taxes, costs which must be met, even before one cent has been turned in trade. Over the weekend, in spoke to some small businessmen and women who are shutting their doors, they can no longer carry the criminal burdens imposed by each tier of govt. and their growing armies of blood sucking careerahists and the greater army of `social security’ professional tramps, and that includes all of that great scared cow, Medicare. You go broke, too bad, the govt. is content to do it, beleiving that there is an uinlimited number of bodies it can suck the bl;ood out. Go broke, but woe betide you if you haven’t handed every bit of property you possess they demand at the point of a gun.

At the retail level, walk into a restaurant, propietors are being squeezed to shut down, because of commie govts. Patrons might pay $15-20 odd dollars for a mains, including during after work. Not now, not at $25-to $35, and that once purchased silver serice cuisine. No, those jooints are not serving cordon bleu in an ambiente to match. The food might be fine but not the premises. They’re trying to survive, trying to pay the rent, by increasing their prices and the inevitable is happening, punters are falling off.
Italy conferred its greatest honour, Melbourne is a slow first city. It won’t be long before it will be, dead food city. That’s the consumption side.

Oz is dominated by socialistos, and that includes the Coaltion. The Coalition, at bottom, believes money is just money and little gIrish dwarves deliver the loot. Peter Costello and the RBA are assured it is so at the rate they have been forging money since 1996, as do the ALP, as do the Greenies, as do the Democrats.

In one of the now decreasing number of genuinely entrepenurial sectors, the Oz wine producers, all the parties in federal parlaiment from the Whitlam govt. to the current pack of criminal mobsters, have deliberatley set out to ruin the sectpor. That was the obnject of licenses and excises introduced by the ALP under Whitlam, which killed what was about to emerge as a robust market, production of fine cognac. Wineries had to get rid of fine cognacs which were still maturing in oak in the 70’s. he aim of the W.E.T. was precisley to slice through wine producers like a bloody Islamic Mullah. Well, it is working, the stuff simply is not moving, pointing up the sheer lies, hypocrisy, and criminal actions of the parties and, the ATO.

W.E.T.is not levied on exports, due to the mercantilist beliefs of each of the parties, which show up in the nonsensical hystoeria over imports and exports and desair that Oz can’t flog enough to overseas buyers. The wine is a case study for why mercantilsim is not only nonsense, it is destructive. The export of wines is driven by the domestic market dynamics of a genuinely entrepenurial sector , and it is the interal markets the federal govt. is killing with its criminal W.E.T., supported by all the othe rparties.

The rate of W.E.T. is lower than what the original rate decides was, due to the obvious political ramifications, due to the outright devestation it would have wrought.

Carmody is just an overpromoted clerk besotwed with police state powers. He and his subordinates wine about `hobby wineries’. Most wineries are started as hobbies. You certainly wouldn’t do it otherwise, not with at best a 5 year wait before paying of capital, assuminbg that is, the winery is successful. It takes more like ten years to take a new winery to the point where it pays for itself. For some wineries that might be around five hundred cases per annum, not much but it pays. The decision, on establishing demand to such small production runs, is whether to scale up or not scale up. Scaling up entails mulitplying factor costs, and that includes, W.E.T., alcohol content licences ( a fraud, if something is lawful, why should there be a bloody licence at all ), bottle retention taxes, licenses to install and then operate production plant and equipment. Why scale up when the bastards in Canberra, on top of the criminal scukmbags in local and states’ govts. sacking for all your posession’, better to take a modest return and claim tax deductions than enter revenue levels that would make it really worthwhile but for bloody commie scumbag govts.

Govt. treatment of the wine sector is symptomatic of something else. On the one hand, govt. is pounding the sector into the ground while, on the other hand, gladly taking every last cent they can bloody well rip off wine producers to fund their socialisto cows, and that includes transfers to protected sectors, reall loss makers doing great economic damage because of those transfers, right dopwn to outright scams, such as windmills and windtowers ( cf. Louis’s item below).

Subsidies for this mendicant business, that mendicant business, for those who’d like a return to the good old days of outright producers’ command economy and mercantilism, as well conveyed by Melbourne tycoon Richard Pratt in his Oz Day address to the commmies at Sydney Orr.

Bracks and his bunch of thughs are crims. Mr. Jackson wrote:

Green economic illiteracy, money-grubbing CEOs and windmills

Victoria?s Labor Government is wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayers? dollars on windmill farms. These economic and scientific illiterates ? should that be morons? ? have been conned into this insanity by a bunch of fanatical greens and money-grubbing CEOs.

Are the companies who build and promote wind generators are aware of the above fact. Damn right they are. They know they are defrauding the public. Unfortunately our politicians are far too thick to understand this fact.

If wind farms were profitable under free-market conditions companies would willingly invest in them without any political encouragement or government subsidies.

That they don?t is a clear sign that the necessary resources for these malinvestments are more valued elsewhere. In simple terms, these so-called investments will never cover their costs and so forcing them into existence will have a detrimental effect on the state?s economy.

Try telling that to our politicians and their cretinous media mates.

I only disagree over the innocence of politicians. They’re not naive. They are like those wind power scumbags prete4nding to be businessmen are aided and abetted by the likes of Bracksie wacksie who cannot plead ignorance at all, it is criminal fraud which he and his cabinet colleagues are perpetrating.

Then there all his other police state laws eroding property rights and liberty. Under OHS, asserting the govt. has the right to respass onto private property by its agents, union thugs put onto govt. payroll under the trite and euphemistic label, OHS Inspectors, claiming some mystical right to shuit down anyone’s business on the spot because of some breach with the totlaitarain OHS `laws’.

Victoria is in trouble, and then so are all the other states. And what does Costello and the RBA do, trot out their oracular utterances paraded as economic analysis and reporting to exculpate the culprtis, govts, each treir of the cvriminal, commie, lying, usurious bastards.
