IPA embroiled in scandal
The Berg – Kemp paper is not the first one the IPA has committed itself to publishing fictions and lies. Boggling really, having done much the same twice in recent times, it might be assumed they would have a learnt a trick or two, more so when one of the items in view saw the IPA on the wrong end of a very expensive lawsuit.
Apparently not, which begs the question, are they thick as bricks or just brain dead? Oh, I don’t mean they are stupid. What I mean is, they are self-absorbed, ignorant and, and duly treat all others with contemptuous disregard, as they have so well demonstrated in publishing the rubbish of Berg and Kemp. Did that lot really believe, all who read it would be gob-smacked by the sheer brilliance of the paper and ignore a few defects?
The two instances in view were both written by the same author, Michael Warby, who also figured as one of Michael Kroger’s 6 living neurons in his brains trust. Having read a number of Warby’s economic papers, including on the HR Nicholls Society great cause, free labour markets, his jottings are as appalling as those of Evans and Moore. So, why should they be any better on any other topic?
1. In 1999, Warby fell for what, on careful examination, looks like a deliberate hoax, a set-up. Someone wrote a fictional account of “Hanoi†Jane Fonda’s time in Hanoi. Hanoi Jane did not get what she deserved for her real treachery but, the ‘article’ outlined a number of falsehoods, which drew, to suspect, the reaction sought from “rightiesâ€. There are readers, of course, who remember the scandal as follows:
Warby read it and decided to not merely write on it for IPA, but also
The Age, aka “ The Spencer Street Sovietâ€, as a truly brutal way to beat up the left. No, he plagiarised the article, making a few small changes, namely atttaching his name as the author. Why did The Age publish the article is an amusing question, in view of the possibilities.
Needless to say, all those who are apprised of Jane Fonda’s record, had a fun time, lead by none other than Brookesnews.
The ripest contribution to that weekly came from HR Nicholls Society insider and informer, Bunny Champers, and I quote in part:
“Michael Warby speaking.â€
“Hello there! Captain Fellatio Hornblower, I presume? It’s Bunny Champers here, mate. Get your
skinny little pikestaff out of that rent-boy’s bum; old Paddy McGuinness here needs some help.â€
“Yeeeees…â€
“Have you heard about plagiarism in, let’s say, the I.P.A. Review? They just cut-and-paste stuff off
the net for that ‘Strange Times’ page. Even got the American spelling. Oh, come on Michael, come
on mate! What you don’t know about plagiarism could be written on a Pelaco shirt label. You wrote
the book! Or somebody else wrote it, and you copied it…sorry mate, you’re quite correct, that
wasn’t very funny.â€
There was a long pause.
“Admit it, Bunny. Mike Nahan’s been telling you things you shouldn’t know, hasn’t he?â€
“I’m not saying a word, Michael. We just want you to ring this Michael Brander, this Scotch git…†[
Christ, I’ve met a few of them in my time] “…and you…
Media Watch then picked up the revelations, and they had a fun time too:
Paul Barry: We all need to be careful. It could happen to anyone. His fingers must have slipped. And is there anything wrong with plagiarism anyhow?
After all there’s the “if it’s good enough for Shakespeare it’s good enough for you” defence.
Well, what’s really wrong with plagiarism is it’s a mixture of theft and dishonesty.
Oh dear… now it’s happened to me… I accidentally slipped in a few words from Michael Warby.
Yes, let’s not forget Michael Warby. He stole someone else’s story and copied all their mistakes as well…
Paul Barry: Well, after a spell in the sin bin, Warby is back on the field…In The Australian, with a scathing attack on journalists for… being unprofessional.
Opinion polls tell us that newspaper journalism is the least respected or, if one is harsh, most despised of professions. Only car salesmen consistently rate lower.
(The Australian, Media Section 22/6/00 p14)
Paul Barry: Personally I think that’s an insult to car salesmen.
It’s a bit thick isn’t it, coming from the no.1 media Australian Bolshevik Collective, but, Warby and the IPA dropped themselves into the soup.
2.Leftist Bob Ellis wrote an economics book, strewn with socialist nonsense. Any real economist would have had little difficulty in demolishing it. A straw poll of economists yielded a frequent comment: well, it’s not really worth bothering with, not even a leftist would waste their time on it; but not for Warby. In 2000-2001, he set about demolishing Ellis’ effort.
The problem is, Warby didn’t actually deal with Ellis’ nonsense…well, he couldn’t, he’s not equipped to do it. No, he went for the man.
Yah, the way to go, demolish falsehoods and the left by inventing stories about Ellis. Go, boys!
Ellis learned Warby was writing a sycophantic biography of the leftist and hero to the lumpenintelligentsia. Warby found out Ellis knew. What Warby didn’t quite grasp is, Ellis had a very good clue as to what Warby’s great insights were.
Ellis counted a couple of hundred errors and falsehoods. The IPA, having printed about 5,000 copies found Ellis’s lawyer on their doorstep one day with a, “cough up a hefty damages bill or my client will ram you through the courts. Oh, and you can pulp every copy,†notice.
Surprise, surprise, the ABC had another jolly time, but on its am radio station, and packed in both the Hanoi Jane hoax and plagiarism scandal again, just to turn the screws a little more.
Here we are, it is not many years later and, the IPA has done it again, published another load of falsehoods, the Berg and Kemp paper, asserting, “ it’s true, it’s true! we say.†Well, no, the paper is one prolonged fraud built on very serious falsehoods and fictions offered as evidence, replete with ad-hominem smears thrown in for good measure.
They haven’t learned a jot that lot. Did the clowns at the IPA really believe they could get away purveying not merely fictions but a scandalous fraud purveyed as a scholarly, truth laden treatment of history? How many beltings do they need before they learn to respect the truth. Ignorant and incompetent, seems inadequate for distilling what that lot are on about.
Ps. I’ve challenged Berg and Kemp, and the IPA, to dare defend the fraud in public. They really do have to account for their actions in this very grave, scandalous matter of appeasing Islamo fascists and telling lies to the public about the history of western civilisation. They are as bad as leftist liars in this affair.
