Centre for Independent Studies are lobbyists?
Has the The Centre for Independent Studies changed from ‘think tank’ to Lobbyists?
The evidence is crystal clear. The Centre of Independent Studies is not merely committed to the position of imposition of Co2 taxes. It is actively campaigning for them.
They gave the game away in their statements to The Australian, demanding Kevin Rudd impose them. It amounts to nothing less than lobbying. Kevin “Let Australians Perish” Rudd and his Cabinet of Green Brown Mush Pantalooned Cultists are using the non arguments set out by the CIS. The CIS is working on politicians to impose Co2 taxes, and supplying them with lies lines for the public propaganda war.
On whose behalf could the CIS be lobbying? Two candidates at least have been identified:
The China based Peony Company, which has as a Director one Mr. Peter Yates, who is also a Director of the CIS.
By an odd coincidence, Peter Yates’ brother, Oliver, is head of MacQuarrie Bank’s ‘alternative energy investment’ division. The activities are where it is done - large scale larceny by governments funnelling huge sums down these capital killing sinks, Europe and, shockingly, in the U.S.
Mr. Alan Stockdale, who presided over the conversion of the STO into what it is today - and stuff all the victims of this nice little racket, is also in question. President of the Federal Liberal Party, Stockdale heads MacQuarrie Bank’s ‘infrastructure division’.
Infrastructure, infraschmukture. This stinks of keynesianitis, ie. if the government squanders enough on consumption, it will in some mysterious way totally alien to sound economics, bring capital into being. What could these ‘infraschmukture’ targets be? Windmills, ethanol , and solar panels scams?
What about the Wootton family? This family has poured over $12m into the hard Left front “The Climate Institute”. Some members of the board of this front has direct interests in the whole fraud of kyoto compliance, Co2 taxation and ‘alternative energy’ scams. This one, for example, is noteworthy:
“Dr Hugh Saddler is currently the Managing Director of Energy Strategies Pty Ltd.”
This company, in view of Rudd’s grand plan to dictate many existing goods and their production be wiped out and replaced by centrally approved goods, hopes to make a fortune out of the destruction of existing production through ‘redesign’ of goods.
The Woottons and their hard Left pals demand total conversion to kyoto compliant larceny and economic destruction. In view of their interests, do the Woottons and their also diseased pals ‘donate’ to the CIS?
Greg Lindsay is prepared to betray Australians, see companies destroyed and most Australians devastated, through Co2 taxation. For what, Greg Lindsay? The Peony Club, the MacQuarrie Bank, and any other ‘donors’ hoping to make a squillion out of metaphorical war and larceny against Australians, and topping up your super fund called the CIS? For it bloody well looks like it. For this you have turned lobbyist?
Lobbying for Co2 taxation doesn’t cut the scrofulous “Right’s” mustard, the required virtue of pretending to defend free markets and genuine liberal principles while completely betraying and wrecking them, as expected of also the IPA and HR Nicholls Society. Oh, and entertaining the hard Left, while assisting the Right in keeping its stranglehold over the Liberal Party. The CIS has exceeded expectations!
In crossing the line from ‘clunker tank’ to lobbyists over Co2 taxation, they earned an alpha quadruple plus. For this effort has brought great joy to Kevin Rudd, and is a cause of even greater mirth to the diseased Left.
The above clarifies something telling, why Greg Lindsay used Humphreys to launch his lobbying effort late 2007, and has resurrected him to continue it in face of what Lindsay has brought upon himself, a punishing disaster. This is marked by Lindsay’s ‘guns’, as bad as they are, are absent from the ‘front’.
1. Why Greg Lindsay’s ‘guns’ have not lead the campaign. These two are alert to one thing:
If they had taken the lead they would have been publicly exposed for pretending to possess solid intellectual foundations. They dare not risk this, not over a hopelessly false claim, though with an exception:
Professor Sinclair Davidson, did creep around Quiggin-like on Catallaxy, taking snide pot shots, including at Mr. Jackson, in support of Humphreys and Greg Lindsay on Co2 taxes. This guy is too much of a coward, as is Quiggin, to face Jackson directly and it is clear why he is.
Realising many days too late that his legs had been blown off in the fight, he warned a Mr. Amir to “please keep quiet” about the Berg-Kemp trash ‘Islam and the free Market” and generally say nothing about the Co2 tax fight. Amir raised this slaughter of the clowns, relating it to the CIS’ Co2 tax scandal. Sinkers groaned louder than a man hit in the solar plexus, ‘please, Amir, don’t….’
Jackson blew the IPA pack of lies on the history of economics away. I pulverised Kemp all over again when he parroted a line he had obviously been fed that theology and philosophy are indebted to Islam.
Sinkers ran for cover, bolted the steel doors and hid under the bed. Pansy.
Jason Soon joined in, and was soon blown out of the water. This article shows how this guy’s garbage was minced, effortlessly.
Greg Lindsay isn’t doing his typical scraping the bottom of the barrel. He did this when he took on Jason Soon, and Professors Saunders and Sinclair Davidson. He blew the bottom out of it to reach for Humphreys. This is a real worry:
Greg Lindsay should not do this to Humphreys. The accumulated statements of Humphreys show him to be worse than inept. He doesn’t even have a clue as to what he has stated. This is complemented by Humphreys’ notion of debate:
Trying to side-track and evasion by injecting straw men, and ad hominem abuse to deflect attention from the obvious, he is Lindsay’s mouthpiece for an indefensible brief that is horrifying in its force, and that he is incapable of a reasonable attempt at defence and debate even though for an indefensible brief.
Secondly, as many of Humphreys’ remarks show, he is seriously disturbed and unstable. It’s not simply that he doesn’t realise he’s drowned at the bottom of the sea along with his CIS, IPA and HR Nicholls pals. The guy needs help, from doctors.
It is both cowardly and callous of Greg Lindsay to have Humphreys do his dirty work on Co2 taxes. Hmmm, it is also cowardly of Saunders and Sinclair Davidson not to head the lobby campaign in public for Lindsay instead of Humphreys. As for Jason Soon, he soon distanced himself from his former pal. What thoroughly decent guys.
Carbon taxes and Keynesian insanity
Gerard Jackson
Why is the Centre for Independent Studies supporting the destructive carbon tax?
The real costs of the greens’ carbon tax
This is what the CIS asserts through Humphreys (warning, in pdf format)
Exploring a Carbon Tax for Australia
Humphreys has stated in comments -
“The CIS doesn’t have a position on global warming. Various people within the CIS have opinions, and those opinions vary.”
This is, beyond question, a falsehood.
This again is false:
“On it’s own, a carbon tax (like any tax) imposes costs. But when combined with other policies (like tax cuts) then the net impact (ie considering both impacts together) is ambiguous.”
There is nothing ambiguous at all about Greg Lindsay and his CIS, in pushing the brief, asserting Co2 taxes are costless and all the statements Humphreys has also made stating this.
This is another whopping falsehood, as the above linked articles also make plain:
“And I have comprehensively responded to all of Gerry’s points at the ALS blog.”

Why don’t you challenge Davidson to a debate in the open? Flush him out.

For one thing Davidson is probably too ignorant of economics to understand the debate.
