Comments on: Centre for Independent Studies has two fan clubs

Free markets, capital, and entrepreneurs are the bedrock of civilisation. They dragged man out of the gutters, civilised him, dignified him, gave him liberty.Socialism is an excuse to pauperise untold millions, enslave untold millions, murder untold millions, over a century now: Why has the Liberal Party shifted to the code of savages?

Strider, I have occasionally commented at Catallaxy myself - but I find the tendency for personal abuse somewhat off-putting. If I wish to read inventive invective I go for the British swearbloggers like bastardoldholborn.blogspot.com, devilskitchen.me.uk, obotheclown.blogspot.com, and mreugenides.blogspot.com/2008/08/avoiding-festival.html. I don't swear personally and listening to one of my brothers swear every three words is rather tedious - but they take profanity to a new level amusement.

Excellent post! Quite enjoyed reading this, and it is good that the gaggle at Catallaxy are engaging in monologue in the comments section.

I regularly read Catallaxy because all the comments, where they engage in personal abuse of each other, are highly entertaining.

However, I doubt that they do themselves, or their mentors and front groups, much credit through all that.

the ALS direct preference votes to the ALP

The ALS is not a political party and it does not direct preferences anywhere. In so far as it's members informally advocates for any political party it would most typically be the LDP but there is no rule saying who members should vote for in elections.

Both John Humphreys and myself did represent the LDP as senate candiates in the 2007 election (John in Queensland, me in New South Wales) so perhaps the comment is in relation to that.

It's true that in senate preferences the LDP put the ALP ahead of the Liberals in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia. However we put the ALP behind the Liberals in New South Wales, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.

More details on LDP preference flows are outlined here:-

TerjeP is also a devotee of libertinism, which is not genuine liberalism.

This is no doubt designed to be provocative. However you have not offered any evidence or context so I won't waste breath refuting the point.

The myopic Right call debate, criticism, and just fights disloyal.

Again a specific example with names and quotes might enhance your argument.

See what else Davidson says about you.

As regards your friend Mr Jackson, all I want to say is that he has no professional qualifications, no professional affiliations and no professional publications. He is, at best, a gifted amateur - and a fine amateur he is too. His responce to Humphreys was unacceptably poor - reflecting his amateur status - and his spear-carriers have further undermined his previously good reputation as a commentator by their siliness.
