Rebellion

Subverting the Dominant Paradigm since 1971

And another thing…

One of my greatest pet hates, apartfrom particularly stupid people, is particularly stupid people who try to impose their particularly stupid ideas on to me.

It is something that often gets my wife and I into frank and forthright disputes.? She seems to be of the impression that I am being unreasonable if I were to turn up to a vegetarian’s house for a dinner party and expect them to have cooked me a big bloody steak.? Though, of course, were the positions reversed, I would have to cater for their peccidilloes.

My wife is forever concerned that I am unreasonable.? Personally I think that I am the most reasonable of men.? If I have to take in their dietary concerns, then I expect them to do the same for me.? I have to admit that I have been known to stop on the way to a friend’s house to buy a burger or two when I knew they were going through one of their supposed health kicks.? Funnily enough, it never became a problem.? Either they saw the logic of my argument, or I just had incredibly understanding friends.

Somehow, I doubt the word reasonable was an appelation often quoted in relation to myself.

The reason for this particular concern comes as a result of my sister inviting us for dinner tonight.? My anorexic sister is on another of her de-toxing episodes and as a result, I have been told by my ever loving wife that I shouldn’t take a bottle of wine.? Somehow, this advice does not seem to be too reasonable to me.? I am not detoxing, why should I weaken and devalue my own ideas and thoughts, just to accede to somebody else.

Were she to be truly reasonable, she would have thought of this and provided for it.? No doubt, as per usual, I will be the bad guy.? Oh well, I am getting used to the idea.
